Devlin Land The Cash In St Kitts  -  By Poker Boss

When Geordie poker player John Devlin played an internet tournament with William Hill earlier this month, he had idea what good fortune was coming his way.

First of all, John won the tournament and a luxury holiday in the Caribbean, but he has now made the trip doubly worthwhile by collecting a cool £10,000 with the biggest poker win of his life.

'Wow, what a buzz,' said 27yr old John after no less than twelve hours of play secured the win. 'I play a lot of poker on line in the UK, and won the trip here through a freeroll tournament using my player points with Hills, so it cost me absolutely nothing!'

Whilst fiance Liane took in the sun at the glorious Marriott Resort in St Kitts, John took to the tables in preparation for the $1m Caribbean Poker Classic and got the job done when beating 168 other starters in the supporting $300 freeze out tournament.

'Liane spent the day by the pool, which helped in the early stages as I had no distractions, but she popped in to support me towards the end when the tension got pretty tough and it's just fantastic to land the money with the wedding next year.'

John has no illusions about poker being a hobby rather than a career. 'It's a tough way to make a living and I'll be back to the day job (block paving driveways) in Newcastle next week, but this has whet the appetite and hopefully we'll be back here again next year.'
