The final eight players gathered together at the Hohensyburg Casino today to contest the final of the Dortmund EPT. With young Canadian Mike 'Timex' McDonald and Diego Perez Marco leading the way, there were sure to be fireworks as the aggressive players who had made the final table matched wits...

Andreas Gulanay has had a rollercoaster tournament and he received the timely boost of an early double up when his semi bluff was called by McDonald, hurting the canadian in the process as he spiked the 5 he needed on the river to win the pot. The Canadian bounced straight back though, knocking out American player Christian Harder, in what was harder's 2nd successive EPT final table, for EUR85,500. Shortstacked Frenchman Thibaut Durand was next out, netting EUR120,200 for his troubles.

Johannes Strassmann couldn't captilise on his good start as he crashed out 6th for EUR152,000. Four handed Diego Perez and Thorston Hasse both fell to Mike McDonald, netting EUR234,200 and EUR307,000 respectively. Heads up, McDonald had a 3-1 chip he never looked like conceding and this proved the case as he defeated Gulunay with trip kings. Gulunay picked up a hefty EUR528,500 for his troubles, whilst Mike McDonald sent the casino into raptuorous applause as he became the youngest man to win an EPT at just 18 years old, collecting close to a million euros(EUR933,600) for his performance. Congratulations to the young Canadian superstar, whose fearless poker got the reward it deserved.
