The William Hill Poker Times is a monthly collection of poker strategy, tips and stories. Subscribers receive a newsletter and entry to invitation only tournaments and competitions. August has been kind, with a win at the monthly 300 in Walsall and another at the new Circus casino in Nottingham. The latter was quite spectacular in that, once three-handed, I managed to flop back to back full-houses to snatch it, firstly with Q-Q, then a 2-9. Easy game really. I enjoyed my second trip to Vegas, a $1000 down meaning an almost break even trip, which was pretty good considering the exposure I had. That was my fourth visit over a two year period and what is disappointing is that as yet, I've not managed to snag a decent score in the one town where decent scores are plentiful. Well the World Series is over for me, although it actually felt like a success of sorts to actually bag up a handful of chips and make Day 2b. I had a fairly steady table on Day 1d with Padraig being the only face I recognised. I'm struggling to remember many hands, but suffice to say, they, and any sweet situations were very few. No I didn't stop at the Wynn, but it is one of my favourite buildings and I just had to take a few pictures; I just love that look. That minimalist exterior sets you up for a fall though, as the interior is your safe bet, bog standard mock regency or some other such period re-hash. The Palms is the only casino I've been to in Vegas where the contemporary exterior ties in with what lies inside. Position plays an extremely important part in poker and you need to be aware this at all times.William Hill Poker - Download Now
