What is a firewall?

Firewalls are software which is designed to prevent unauthorized access to your computer and stop the entry or transfer of date to and from your computer, depending on the level of security it is configured to provide.

Am I likely to have a hardware firewall?

A hardware firewall is a physical device which your computer or network of computers will be connected to in order to prevent unauthorised access. They are mainly used by network groups. If you are accessing William Hill Poker from an office computer then there is a high chance that a hardware firewall is in place. Both routers and modems come under this category. Ask for your network administrator to configure ports 2147 and 443.

Norton Personal Firewall

In the system tray (the bottom right hand corner of your screen) double click on the Norton Internet Security icon, alternatively click on Start > Program Files > Norton Internet Security. Select ‘Personal Firewall ON’ and then ‘Configure’. Select 'Program Control'. Click on 'Add' and then add William Hill Poker to the list of programs. Click on the application and then change the internet access settings from ‘Block All’ to ‘Permit All’. ‘OK’ and then double-click on the William Hill Poker icon to connect. Alternative method In the system tray (bottom right-hand corner of your screen) right-click on the Norton Internet Security icon. Select 'Norton Internet Security Options'. Click on 'Firewall'. In the 'HTTP Port List' click on 'Add'. Add port numbers 2147 and 443 to the list one at a time. Select on 'OK' and  then double-click on the William Hill Poker icon to connect. 

McAfee Personal Firewall Plus

Either click on Start > Program Files > McAfee Security Center or in the system tray (the bottom right-hand corner of your screen) double click on the McAfee Security Center icon. Select 'McAfee Personal Firewall Plus'. Click on 'Internet Applications'. Select 'New Allowed Application' and then add William Hill Poker to the list. Select William Hill Poker and set your system to 'Allow Full Access'. Close the McAfee window and double-click on the William Hill Poker icon to connect. 

Zone Alarm

1. Click on Start > Program Files > Zone Alarm or double click the Zone Alarm icon located in the system tray (bottom right hand corner of the screen).

2. Select 'Program Control' on the left-hand side.

3. Select 'Program' tab on the right-hand side.

4. Click on 'Add' located at the bottom-right corner and then add William Hill Poker to the list.

5. Select William Hill Poker from the list and then change all the '?' marks to 'v' marks.

6. Close all open applications and then restart your computer to log in to William Hill Poker. 

Freedom Firewall

1. Click on Start > Program Files > Freedom.

2. Select 'Firewall' from the left-hand side.

3. Select 'Internet Access Rules'.

4. Select 'Add Program' from the bottom and add William Hill Poker to the list.

5. Select William Hill Poker and click on 'Allow' at the bottom.

6. Close all open applications and log in to William Hill Poker 

Kapersky DefenderPro Firewall

1. Open the firewall by clicking on the Kapersky icon located in the system tray (the bottom right hand corner of your screen).

2. In the menu across the top click on 'Service' and select 'Application Rules'.

3. Click on the 'New' button.

4. Under 'Action', select 'Allow activity of the application according to its type’.

5. Under 'Rules Description', select 'Specify the application name'.

6. Browse the program folder and find William Hill Poker.

7. Click on the 'Select' button and then click on 'Finish'.

8. Close all open applications and then login to William Hill Poker 

Windows XP Firewall 1

1. Click on Start > Control Panel > Windows Firewall or Security Center.

2. When the windows open, click on the 'Exceptions' tab.

3. Under 'Program and Services', click on 'Add Program'.

4. Add William Hill Poker to the list and then click on 'OK'.

5. Select 'OK' and close all open applications.

6. Restart your computer and then connect to William Hill Poker. 

BlackICE Firewall

1. Open the BlackICE Firewall application and click on 'Tools'.

2. Select 'Edit Black Ice Settings'.

3. In the new window which opened, click on the 'Protection' tab and then check the 'Trusting' box.

4. Click on 'Apply' and then on 'OK'. 

eTrust EZ Firewall 1

1. Open EZ Firewall and then click on 'Privacy' on the left-hand side of the window.

2. In the tab labelled 'Site List' scroll to the row for www.williamhillpoker.com

3. Once you have found the row right-click the column labelled 'Private Header' and select 'Allow'.

4. Close all windows and reconnect to William Hill Poker. 

CA Security Center

1. In the system tray click on CA Security Center (bottom right-hand corner of your screen).

2. Click on CA Personal Firewall.

3. Under ‘CA Personal Firewall’ click on ‘Open Advanced Settings’

4. Click Firewall on the left-hand side 5

5. In the applications list select WilliamHillPoker.exe

6. To allow access, select each icon under Access and then select Allow.

7. Close the CA Security Center window and reconnect to the William Hill Poker software. 

AVG Internet Security 8.0

1. In the system tray (bottom right hand corner of your screen) click on the AVG Internet Security icon or click on Start > All Programs > AVG 8.0 > AVG User Interface.

2. Double-click on Firewall.

3. Under Firewall settings take note of the profile selected.

4. Click on Tools and then click on Firewall settings.

5. Under Profiles, click on the Profile that was selected in the previous window.

6. Click on Applications.

7. In the list of applications select WilliamHillPoker MFC Application

8. Click Edit and select 'Allow for all' under Application action.

9. Click on OK and then OK again.

10. Click on ‘Save changes’ and then reconnect to the William Hill Poker software. 

Trend Micro Internet Security

1. In the system tray (bottom right hand corner of the screen) click on the Trend Micro Internet Security icon.

2. Click on ‘Home Network & Firewall Controls’.

3. Click on ‘Settings’ under ‘Personal Firewall’

4. Click on ‘Advanced Settings’.

5. Click ‘Program Control’.

6. In the programs list select ‘William Hill Poker’ and then click ‘Edit’.

7. Select Firewall Response as Allow and click on OK.

8. Close on OK again.

9. Close the Trend Micro Internet Security window and reconnect to the William Hill Poker software.
